LIFE LESSONS FROM 2013

This beautiful year is about to come to a close, this is my last year as a 20 something year old too. Ten years of being in the beautiful twenties has come and gone, it was the decade of being a young adult, meeting new friends, learning about life and also yearning for positive growth, now it is time to step it up into the next decade of self fulfillment, career and family. Whew!!!! I am thankful to God for my life so far and the new things beyond coming soon. What have I learned so far. 1. I am my own best friend. I fight my battles and I pray. 2. Failure is a sign that I have tried. 3. Looking beyond my nose to new adventures and taking risks worth it, it has paid off. 4. Retiring from a constant party scene is awesome I have replaced that habit with traveling. I went to two different states in 2013. I hope to do more than two next year. Bring it on. 5. Self love is the best love. 6. In relationships always be sure that the other person feels the same way, it is no us...

WHO WAS THE FUNNIEST OF THEM ALL?

I found this list funny, of some bizarre stuff that some people do. Who do you think was the funniest of them all? 1. HAUSA man who removed his shoes to enter a taxi..... 2. IGBO man who went to the bank with a spanner to open a bank account. 3. YORUBA man who went to bed with a ruler just to know how long he slept.... 4. A TIV man who watched the news and waved at the news reader. 5. AN EFIK nurse who woke up a sleeping patient simply because she forgot to give him sleeping pills.... 6. AN IGALA man who lowered his TV volume because he wanted to read a text message.. 7. AN EDO man who sprayed himself with mortein to keep mosquitoes away...... 8. AN IKWERE man who polished his shoes to take a passport photo. 9. AN ISOKO man who climbed a mango tree to check if the mango was ripe enough then came down and started stoning it..... 10. A FULANI man who chose to drink Fanta because he thought sprite was unripe ........ 11. A GWARI man who saw something that looked like shit, touched n tas...

THANKSGIVING.WHAT I AM THANKFUL FOR!!

Image
Its so funny how we always think about things that we are thankful for every year during Thanksgiving, we all survive little mishaps everyday here and there, we tend to overlook the little things that matter and think about it on the third Thursday of November. While some things are in our memory temporarily, i tend to always recount that afternoon at my house all by myself trying to put out grease fire, the smoke, i wasn't sure i was going to make it out alive, after putting out the fire, i was still unaware that my house was still burning inside the structure, i had lunch with family and we all took naps six hours later smoke started coming out from the walls, that was when i had to call 911,the firefighters told us that if we had gone to bed that night, we would not have made it out alive, Carbon monoxide poisoning. Those words still ring in my ears till today "YOU ARE SOME REAL LUCKY FOLKS, IF YOU HAD GONE TO BED YOU WOULD NOT HAVE MADE IT OUT ALIVE" Fast forwar...

HAIR PRODUCT REVIEW: JOICO KPAK COLOR THERAPY SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

Image
So right now I am in my late twenties identity crisis. Getting ready to start a new decade next  year by God's grace so my image is going to have to change. Number one is my weight loss  i actually meant Weight loss the first time, and then next to change is my hair color, i started looking for a signature hair color either midnight blue or black cherry. So far , i tried the black cherry look , even though i like it , it is pretty hard to maintain. The loss of pigment in hair makes hair a lot harder to manage in terms of texture but i decided to give this product a try. Joico Kpak Color Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner, to the average person may be relatively pricey but it is worth it. It is a good therapy duo for color treated hair as the name implies, it works excellently to restore hair that has been damaged from color treatment such as hair pigment removal otherwise known as bleaching or hair color damage bringing limp looking hair back to vibrant looking hair. It also sm...

HEY DADDY!!

Image
Its my dad's birthday today coincidentally as i write this post. Happy Birthday Daddy !!! Oops Dad. "Hey Daddy" i thought it was just a song. Yeah Usher in the lyrics is letting his woman know that "Daddy"  is home. Apart from watching a very visually interesting video, it seems to be a lot of women's reality. Sisqo also came up with a song about a decade ago talking about "Who is your daddy?" So what's up with girlfriends, these days calling their "boyfriends" not "husbands" the word "DADDY". There is even a Facebook page for women who call their man "Daddy" Well i cannot fathom calling my man "daddy" though not yet!!!  . I mean it is a personal thing for different people. I just find it awkward to call my man a name i have been calling my father for so many years, i believe he alone should have that title. Some women love to call their man  "daddy" and some men being called "...

COMMONLY MISUSED WORDS

Image
Before the advent of Facebook and other social networks I believe people wrote spoken English correctly. It was so much fun to read back then due to the excitement of learning new words and reading people's ideas and stories. I would assume that as we got older and from our reading experiences we would be better writers. Most people gained that knowledge during their learning process but these children born after 911, I swear they freak me out with their writing. Text messaging is just a way of having basic conversation with people when you don't have the opportunity to speak over the phone. It also goes to show how people construct sentences. Apart from typos, i have read text messages that would make one want to end the conversation right there, and i have a lot of pet peeves.Somehow i am also not surprised why people fail written English. Text messaging has made it worse, all these abbreviations. LOL! OMG !LMFAO! CTCU! I mean i am not exempt but i can at least wri...

SEX AFTER HOW MANY DATES PLEASE?

Image
There is a disclaimer on this post. This post only applies to sexually active people who are not married. It does not in any way apply to celibates or virgins so in terms of giving opinions, speak from the stance of a sexually active person in a relationship. Please i love Jesus as much as you do, do not bring any Christian mother talk into this. There is this in my own opinion "urban legend" that having sex on the first date makes you a slut or a hoe and it is good to wait a few months to get respect and get to know each other. In the African society especially when i was growing up, it was very shameful to hear a story of a young girl engaging in sexual activity with any boy especially when they were not married. It was so easy to throw stones and make up stories of other worse things the girl would have done with the guy so as to look innocent or perfect. At 15, some girls in my class did worse things than "escorts". It doesn't make them bad people...

VHS Lagos Big Girls ... The reality of this joke

Image
I was watching this video and cracked up so hard. I love the way the young lady took a tour of the house with the man and also wanted things in a different specifics, these were things that she herself did not have and possibly not afford, after calling his bluff with her British accent, she switched up her accent and started speaking pidgin English right after she left his mansion to her friend. "No pour sand inside my garri" Is this the trend of finding love these days? He told her he had money, she told him to "work harder".  How much money should a man have to court a girl? What kind of car should he drive? Must he have an oil bloc?  Do these standards bring about a good marriage? Has character and true love flown out of the window? After watching young ladies of this generation wear Brazilian, Peruvian and other foreign hair, flaunting Louis Vuitton and Michel Kors purses and wearing Manolo Blanihk and Christian Louboutin red bottoms using the most expensive ...

THE CURIOUS CASE OF ARGAN OIL

Image
In the last few years, the demand for some sort of oil suddenly increased, the oil is supposed to be the next best thing after Brazilian hair, all hair product brands have added the oil to their brand, its not coconut oil, carrot oil, castor oil,  neither is it, jojoba oil, it is Argan Oil.  Argan oil  is extracted from Argan seeds which are products of a tree that grows in Morocco. This oil is said to be very rich in Vitamin E, carotene and many fatty acids. It has a lot of uses but i would focus on the cosmetic uses because the culinary use of this oil is to aid in weight loss, this can be accomplished by putting a spoonful in drinking water, this would curb your appetite and reduce your urge to eat. It is good for fighting acne and pimples: It is sad that your dermatologist is waiting for you to schedule an appointment so he or she would prescribe a new drug and use you as an experimental rabbit whereas there are tons of natural remedi...
